Saros: Secret Ending Guide

If there’s one thing modern games love, it’s a secret ending. Saros is no exception. We’re going to lay it out  to simplify unlock this true ending.

Once you’ve defeated the King and let the credits roll, you are ready to begin your second journey through Carcosa to trigger the second secret ending. It is worth noting that going back through previous area will have you re-fighting the bosses.

The Passage

As stated, you will need to at least have beaten the King once. Let the credits run through (or skip them), you will be brought back to the Passage. Go down the stairs to find the final audio log from Kayla. She left a warning for anyone else from Soltari to stay away from Carcosa. Continue down to Primary. Talk with it, in its glitchy state, to learn that there’s a signal coming out of the Shattered Descent.

The Shattered Descent

You have 2 ways through this. Either you start from the Shattered Rise or simply use the Teleporter to move between locations as needed. Just remember, if you go through section by section, you will be re-fighting the bosses as you go.

When you make it to the Shattered Descent, you will just need to head up to the Echelon III colony set-up. Head to the dome and go inside. Approach the door in the back to trigger the next cutscene.

The Blighted Marsh

You need to make your way through the Marsh, going past the Nightmare Strand, and looking for Nitya’s Tree. When you do find it, all you need to do is approach it. Listen to what’s said here. After that all plays out though, a teleporter appears next to the tree. You can use it to immediately return to the Passage to continue onto the next part (without having to conquer all that’s inbetween).

The Cathedral

Within the Cathedral, you have a good bit of work yet to do. Arjun must complete both “wings” of the Cathedral, striking the Tuning Forks at the end of each path. With their activation, the third will appear and that will give you access to Nitya’s lab hidden below the staircase.

Drop down into the lab. Go to the middle of where. You will see a new Holo-Log has appeared. Approach it to trigger the animation. At this point, you must to return to the Passage to continue along this path.

The Passage

Returning to the Passage, head down the stairs. A cutscene will trigger between Arjun and Kayla. You can see her eyes are glowing Blue now. Take note that thee sunburst around the Tree is illuminated, an indication of a scene being ready for you.

The Banyan Tree

Head up the stairs and into the Garden Room over Primary. Head for the Banyan Tree and enter into it. Play through the sequence here to get more insight to what happened before the events of the game. After, Arjun stands up in front of the Tree.

It's time to listen to Kiira, and make for the Shore once more to defeat the King again.

The King of the Shore

With all that done, you will need to head back to the Yellow Shore. Once again, you need to complete a run, reaching the shore itself and taking on the King. Just like before, you have only one life (no second chance) to get through. Play carefully to complete the Yellow Shore. Touch down at the Shore and rush the Throne to fight the King once again.

Fighting the King is no different than the first time. All the same attacks, all the lethal danger.

The ending of the fight is where the difference is. Once the King is at the end of his health, he will simply fall to the ground opposed to shielding and the passage out will open. Arjun has a choice to make. To get the secret ending, you need to ignore the King and simply head for the Passage that’s opened up. Interact with it to trigger the second, “True,” ending of the game.

Congratulations, you’ve gotten the REAL ending of the game. Now, all that’s left is having fun and chasing after Trophies.
