"Tail the ship" is a mission objective in Sequence 10 / Memory 01: Black Bart's Gambit
Walkthrough[edit]
Slip back on out to the Jackdaw from the beach. You can climb up the tower, kill the Gunner then jump into the water and swim out to the ship. From there, just take off. Follow the channel and wind on through it. When you reach the cluster of ships, cut to the left of the rock. If you go to the right, you will smash right into a ship and things will not go well. Go through the ships and you will find the ship you are looking for.
