XCOM, formerly known as The Bureau, is a government agency repurposed towards taking down extraterrestrial threats.
Origins of XCOM[edit]
The Bureau was created as a secret agency to fight Communism, which the U.S. perceived as the number one threat at the time.
When Outsiders attack the base, its remaining personnel reconvene and reassemble the bureau with the goal of fighting off the aliens.
