Triggers
The 4-stars wanted level triggers if you continue breaking the law and fighting police while on the 3-Star wanted level. Going to Fort Zancudo or Bolingbroke Peninentiary or Humane Labs and Research Facility or Los Santos Naval Port will instantly give the player a 4-star wanted level.
Causes of 4-star wanted level in GTA V include:
- Continuing to retaliate against law enforcement after 3 stars
- Continuing to kill people after 3 stars
- Continuing to destroy vehicles after 3 stars
- Trespassing into Fort Zancudo or Bolingbroke Peninentiary or Humane Labs and Research Facility or Los Santos Naval Port
- Robbing at least 4 stores whilst killing its owner in a row
- Destroying a 4th unoccupied aircraft after 3 stars
- Destroying a pursuing Police Maverick, but sometimes it takes at least 2 downed units to attain the 4th star
- Killing a guard while inside Bolingbroke Peninentiary (however entering Bolingbroke Peninentiary will instantly give the player a four-star wanted level)
Consequences
The consequences of the 4-Stars Wanted level include:
- FIB agents join police in your pursuit
- The Police and FIB shoot to kill
- Police officers are more heavily armed, arrive riding on running boards of FIB sport utility vehicles
- FIB agents shoot at you from inside their vehicles
- Hand signals now used by response teams to communicate with each other to better coordinate the chase
- FIB and Police will chase you even if you go down alleyways or enter building interiors, harder to hide
- Tear Gas will be use to flush you out from hiding
- Sharpshooters will shoot at you from Helicopters
- Helicopters will rappel more units down to support the ground forces
- Extent of Police chasing you is vastly increased
- Continuing to fight the law in this level will result in a Five Stars Wanted Level
