Crota, Son of Oryx is an Objective in the Raid: Crota's End in Destiny 2.

Summary[edit]

.

Walkthrough[edit]

Roles[edit]

  • Boomer Management - 2-3 Guardians defeating the Revenant Knight or Revenant Wizard
  • Swordbearers - Assigned to grab the Hive Cleaver, survive a run up to Crota, and hit him with the Cleaver.

Status[edit]

Enemies[edit]

Starting the Encounter[edit]

  • Stand nearby the Crystal in the center of the chamber to begin the encounter.
  • You are immediately affected by the Presence of Crota when the encounter begins
  • Semi-permeable barriers appear on the sides of the chamber with a number of Hive Knights and Thralls here.
  • Defeat them and you can break out into the arena itself.
  • The fireteam needs to split between the two sides and clear out the adds here.
  • After fighting your way to the main part of the court, a few need to head for the Chalice of Light, sitting just below the main arch of the throne.

Get the Sword[edit]

  • To claim the sword, you will need to be Enlightened, and this mechanics gets a revamp in this location.
  • There are random parts of the Arena that have a manifested field of Light.
  • You can only exchange the Chalice of Light in these areas!
  • Getting the sword has a few steps to it.
  • First, you will need to defeat 2 Revenant Ogres or Revenant Wizards.
  • Defeating them will draw out the Swordbearer.
  • Collect the Hive Cleaver from the Swordbearer and then its time to make a run on Crota.
  • If possible, have a fellow fireteam member hit Crota, Son of Oryx with a debuff from Tractor Cannon to augment the sword damage, bringing down his shield sooner.
  • Having support in the form of a Healing Rift or Grenade is highly recommended because Crota can do massive damage with his cleaver.
  • It's suggested to do Light Attack (to close the distance and some damage), then Heavy Attacks, followed by using your Sword Super.
  • This leads into the Damage Phase.

Damage Phase[edit]

  • This is a very careful management phase as well.
  • Once the Shield drops from the Hive Cleaver, you need to focus your fire on Crota.
  • But the hard part is the Oversoul, but someone needs to damage it and ultimately destroy it before the Oversoul timer runs out (and wipes the team).
  • You can move in and activate Expunge, which is available if you are Enlightened.
  • Doing the Expunge will augment damage.
  • Activating Expunge requires a Guardian with Enlightened approaching and interacting with Crota, Son of Oryx.
  • In Crota's health bar, there's a line toward the end of it.
  • When you get his health to this point or beyond, you'll trigger his final stand.

The Oversoul[edit]

  • The Orb in the back will open up to damage.
  • Destroying the Oversoul will restore the Shield on Crota, ending the Damage Phase.
  • You can only damage the Oversoul if you have Enlightened.

Depositing the Chalice[edit]

  • If you need to deposit the Chalice of Light there is a place to do that for this encounter.
  • If you go back to where you entered this area, there is a repository for it.

The Final Stand[edit]

  • In Crota's health bar, there's a line toward the end of it.
  • When you get his health to this point or beyond, you'll trigger his final stand.
  • His Overshield will come up for just a few seconds before faded down again.
  • Cut damage immediately during this time, but be ready to resume IMMEDIATELY when the Overshield goes back down.
  • The real challenge here is going to be the pair of Oversouls that he'll be summoning in.
  • The first one can be destroyed, the second one is questionable.
  • Crota's Shield won't be restored, but it remains only someone with Enlightened can destroy the Oversoul and then it's consumed.
  • You have to kill him before the Oversoul detonates or it's a wipe.
  • Get through this health and you will have beaten Crota's End./
