"Contract: Devil by the Well" is a witcher contract in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
You can get this contract at White Orchard, during the Prologue.

Odolan, a father from the Village of White Orchard, is seeking help in getting rid of a monster that is guarding a well.
He posted a notice on the local Notice Board hoping that someone can help him with this matter.

In White Orchard Geralt happened across a notice posted by a certain Odolan residing in the village. The man wanted someone to take out the monster who was haunting the area around an old well - and doing so required a professional. This was as typical of witcher work as they come, so Geralt decided to talk to the man.

How to start quest[edit]
Read the notice on the Notice Board of the Village of White Orchard, or speak to Odolan directly.
Objectives[edit]
- Ask Odolan about the Contract
- Find the spirit that haunts the well
- Find evidence of the spirit's presence using your witcher senses
- Read the entry about noonwraiths in the Bestiary
- Find out what binds the noonwraith to the ruined village
- Follow the drag marks using your Witcher Senses
- Read the diary from the ruined house
- Use your Witcher Senses to examine the well
- Defeat the noonwraith
- Go down the well and look for something that belonged to the dead woman using your Witcher Senses
- Find a way out of the cave
- Leave the cave
- Prepare to fight the noonwraith and light a fire near the well
- Light a fire to destroy the noonwraith's bones and bracelet
- Defeat the noonwraith
- Take a trophy from the noonwraith
- Return to Odolan for a reward
Walkthrough[edit]
Begin the quest by reading the Notice Board, in particular read the contract. Then talk to a Odolan. Odolan is located inside his house on the west part of the Village.
Accept the contract, then travel south to the Abandoned Village. Use your Witcher Senses to look for clues near the Well. Examine the Scorched Grass and the Burnt Animal Body.
You will be prompted to read about the Noonwraith in your Bestiary. Open the menu and go to the in-game bestiary in the glossary. Scroll down to "Spectres" and find the entry named "Noonwraith" and read it.
Then, explore the houses near the well and find a journal and a dead body. Drag marks lead you to the well. The Noonwraith might appear at this stage, fight it. Then Use the Witcher senses at the well and find a rope leading you down to a Cave.
Down in the cave, dive into the water and locate the Ornate Bracelet. Make your way out of the cave and return to the well at the village. Light a fire to burn the corpse and bracelet. The Noonwraith appears, fight it again and kill it. Loot the Noonwraith Trophy from it and return to Odolan to turn in the quest.

- Noonwraiths are vulnerable against Moon Dust (bomb), Specter Oil (oil), and Yrden (sign)
- If you refuse the reward from Odolan at the end of the quest, he will give you a Amethyst (crafting material) instead.
- This is a good quest to do at the beginning - the Noonwraith Trophy you get will give you a 5% experience bonus from humans and nonhumans.
