Gralens, of the monster-control crew, sends Link to hunt the dangerous Molduga in the Eastern Barrens of the Gerudo Desert. Use thrown items or loud attachments on arrows to draw the Molduga to the surface to defeat it. Return to Gralens for your reward.

Gralens of the monster-control crew at Lookout Landing keyed you in on on the location of a Molduga.

The research division at the East Barrens spotted the huge monster swimming in the sands in the Gerudo Desert.

Walkthrough

Talk to Gralens

Inside the Lookout Landing Emergency Shelter, go to the South, you will need to find and talk with Gralens. Talk to him about “Big Monsters” and then about the “Molduga.” He will give Link the information about the Stone Talus that can be found in the East Barrens.

Eliminate the Molduga

Coordinates: -2433, -3268, 0041

It’s time for a long trip. It takes time go overland to reach the Gerudo Desert. You will want modest heat resistance and cold resistance. It’s fairly easy to use the Gerudo Canyon Sky Tower to launch upwards and then glide to the South to reach your destination.

Once you make it to these coordinates, you will be on a rock island above the sand This is nearby the Siwakama Shrine: Moving the Spheres (Coordinates: -2447, -3357 0040).

To fight the Molduga, you will have a bit of a challenge. It “swims” in the sands and is generally protected by them as well. However, it’s attracted to Sound. Running on the sand will draw its attention. A better option is to use Arrows that have an Item fused to them that make noise. Brightbloom Seeds are recommended for their abundance.

You will want to use this to draw the Molduga over to you and expose itself above the sands. You know you’re doing this right when your shots are provoking a Question Mark to appear over the Molduga. Sometimes, you will want to throw a second item as the Molduga approaches to provoke it into its attack.

The idea is to bait the Molduga into breaching, launching itself out of the sand. Once it does, immediately hit it with a bomb fused to an arrow. This will stun it, giving Link a window of opportunity to rush in and damage it. You will do the most damage attacking its pale stomach.

Return to Gralens

Make your way back to Lookout Landing. Return to the Emergency Shelter and head to the South inside there. You’ll find Gralens easily. Just tell him that you hunting something and tell him the “Molduga.”
