Receive the Letter – Of Secret and Shadow

Report to Ocheeva inside the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. You have gotten a letter from Lucien Lachance. Curiously, you’re told not to share the letter or its contents with anyone inside the Sanctuary. For the actual details, you need to head to Fort Farragut to meet with Lucien Lachance.

Meet Lucien Lachance

You need to head out of Cheydinhal to the nearby Fort Farragut. Either you can navigate through the Fort or use the Shortcut to quickly reach Lucien.

The shortcut is the simple path, and its very easy to access, when you know where to go. Once you arrive at Fort Farragut, head to the Northwestern side. There is a thick tree nearby the Fort. Circle around to the Northern face of the tree. This tree trunk has been hollowed out. Step into the truck and look on the floor. You’ll find a trap door that leads directly into Fort Farragut.

Inside the room of Fort Farragut that you just took the shortcut to you will find Lucien Lechance. Talk with him. He explains that there is a spy inside the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. He’s certain it’s not him and he’s certain it’s not you. Everyone else is suspect.

To this end, Lucien Lechance gives the order for you to “Purify” the Cheydinhal Brotherhood. Eliminate everyone inside the Sanctuary. He leaves the timing of it to you.

Purify the Cheydinhal Sanctuary

This is literally the last chance to do any of the quests available here:

• Darkness Eternal
• The Renegade Shadowscale

It is also your last chance to buy any unique items from M’raaj’Dar. While another member of the Brotherhood will, eventually, replace him as a spell vendor, they will not have access to his wares.

With those matters tended to, it’s time to get to work. Everyone in the sanctuary and tied to it needs to die. For most of the members, it’s simple. They all reside here so you need to just eliminate them.

Having a decent archery will make this very simple. Most of the Dark Brotherhood members are close-range fighters with Shortswords or daggers.

The Dark Guardian is optional, but not that hard to find and eliminate. But you will need to eliminate:

• Antoinetta Marie
• Gogron gro-Bolmog
• M’raaj-Dar
• Ocheeva
• Teinaava
• Telandril
• Vicente Valtieri

Now, almost all of them are inside the Sanctuary. There is 1 exception: Telandril. She constantly traveling around, making her the hardest to trackdown and eliminate. But if you purify the Sanctuary on either Middas or Fredas, she will be there. When you eliminate Ocheeva, be sure to read the note she has on her from Telandril. This makes it easier to track her down. She will be then be marked.

• Travel Day to Cheydinhal from Leyawiin (Blue Road to Red Ring Road to Yellow Road)

Tirdas

• 1am-12am – Departs Cheydinhal Sanctuary for Cheydinhal Bridge Inn. Spends day there eating upstairs

Middas

• Spends the day inside the Cheydinhal Sanctuary

Turdas

• Departs at 1 am. Wanders around the well nearby the Cheydinhal Mages Guild

Fredas

• Spends the day inside the Cheydinhal Sanctuary

Loredas

• Travel Day to Leyawiin from Cheydinal (Blue Road to Red Ring Road to Yellow Road)

Report to Luciean Lechance

When the Sanctuary has been purified, it’s time to report back to Lucien Lechance. Make your way back to Fort Farrugut. He’ll be in the same room that’s still accessible through the shortcut.

He will explain that all the assignments from him will now be by dead drop.

Rewards:

• Promotion to Silencer

• Shadowmere (mount)

Shadowmere is an essential NPC, so it cannot die. It can be knocked out. If left somewhere, they will (slowly) make their way back to Fort Farragut.
