The redesigned Lurker

The Lurker is a Necromorph enemy in Dead Space 3.

Type of Enemy[edit]

The Lurker is a small enemy which prefers to fight from afar using projectiles spewed forth from the tendrils jutting from its back.

Strategy[edit]

The quickest way to defeat a Lurker is to shoot off the tendrils from its back.

The tendrils only pop out when the Lurker is about to attack, so you'll have to time it carefully.

Traditionally, the Lurker will die after two of its tendrils are severed, but this also depends on difficulty and whether or not the player has shot the Lurker in the body as well as its tendrils.

Lurker Redesign[edit]

For Dead Space 3, the Lurker has been redesigned.

In both Dead Space and Dead Space 2, these enemies were formed when a Marker or Infector injected the Necromorph Virus into a baby, mutating it and turning it savage.

In Dead Space 3, the Lurker has been changed into a dog.

The enemy, first encountered aboard the Flotilla, now has teeth jutting from its body, as seen to the right.

The logic behind this transformation is that the soldiers on the Flotilla needed dogs aboard in order to do their jobs, and for security. When the Necromorph invasion came, the dogs were transformed similarly to the babies in past games.

Whether or not there will be any baby Lurkers still in Dead Space 3 is unknown, but it seems unlikely.
