Joining the Mages Guild

There are no real requirements for joining the Mages Guild. All you need to do is head into any of the Guild Halls and express your interest in joining. Once you've done that, that's when the work will begin. You will need to complete a series of Recommendation Quests. Once that is done then you can begin the actual questline which will have you become Archmage by the end of it.

Review of the Questline:

It's a lot of Travel all over Cyrodiil. One of the biggest rewards is reaching Archmage. Once you do that, you have unlimited access to the Item Enchanter and a Spellcrafter. Both of these allow you to make Enchanted Items and Custom Magic Spells. Both have the limitation of you can't enchant an item with an effect until you've cast the effect itself.

You get some unique gear and meet a lot of interesting people. Not to mention get access to the spells: "Explode Enemies" and "Finger of the Mountain." While both these are funny spells, their high mana costs severely limits their utility. Only dedicated (or high level) mages will really be able to use them.

With benefit is somewhat lessen because you have Frostcrag available from the start with Oblivion Remastered. That's just going to one location and getting the candles that it needs.
